Antigo Breakers were employed to break the reinforced concrete ground slabs to enable the reduced level dig for construction of new access roads.

The Guillotine breaker was employed to break the 250mm thick reinforced concrete slabs of the redundant airfield pavement. Our client, Laser Civil engineering have had previous experience of the Guillotine type breaker but were impressed by the effectiveness of the latest generation of this rare breed of machine, as it quickly worked its way through the 3000m² it had been asked to reduce to rubble.

It soon became apparent that this 250mm thick pavement was not all that it had first appeared. Our experienced operator soon recognised that he was dealing with more than 250mm and adjusted the strike centre spacing of the machine to give a product that was broken well enough to allow easy excavation whilst maintaining impressive production rates. It was soon established that the 250mm thick slab had been constructed on an existing pavement of 200mm bringing the total pavement thickness to 450mm.
